ANDREW BUMBALOUGH

US 5k Champion / 2x World Team / 2:10 Marathoner

Hello! My name is Andrew Bumbalough. I am a dad, husband, foster parent and life-long runner. Running is not only a passion but something I have pursued professionally for the past decade with NIKE / Bowerman Track Club. I have represented the US at the World Championships, finished top 5 at the Boston Marathon, and broke the 4:00 barrier in the Mile. I am proud of each of these achievements; but what I value most is the guidance of my coaches, the support of my teammates, and the myriad of relationships built in the sport along the way.

I know firsthand that behind every great runner is an even greater support team. Whether it's getting a foothold in running, building towards a Boston qualifier, or hitting an Olympic Trials standard, I am here to help guide and challenge you through the process. My goal is to instill a love of running and to give you the confidence to approach every start-line that comes your way—no matter your experience level, age or ability. Let's achieve your dreams, together!

CHRIS DERRICK

3x US XC Champion / 13:08 5k PB / 2x World Team

Hello! My name is Chris Derrick and I am a professional runner for Nike and the Bowerman Track Club. I was a 14 time All-American at Stanford University, a 3 time US Cross Country Champion, and have personal bests of 13:08 for 5,000m, 27:31 for 10,000m, and 2:12 for the marathon.

But before all that, I was an 8th grade wannabe basketball player. Then- fearing my slight frame and decided lack of quickness meant my hoops career was not long for this world- my parents made me go out for the summer XC program before my freshman year of high school. I wish I could tell you that I took to it like a fish to water, but it was more like a caterpillar to flying. My first year I was the 7th man on the Freshman/Sophomore team. After 4 years of great coaching from Paul Vandersteen, I was State champion, 2nd in the nation, and ran 13:55 for 5,000m. Our team also went from 14th in the State to National Champions. Since that experience I have been obsessed by the ways that moderate, consistent training can stack on top of itself and take an athlete to heights they never dreamed possible. I have applied that insight and methodology for 6 years with our BTC Youth program and I am very excited to bring it to a wider group of athletes outside the BTC family!

My career has not all been sunshine and rainbows and in the last 5 years I have experienced my fair share of injuries and setbacks. From this I’ve learned a lot about injuries, the importance of long term thinking, and the perfect being the enemy of the good. My mission is to help as many athletes as I can establish the consistent, long term habits of body and mind that lead to years of success (and joy!) in running.

My college coach used to implore me to “focus on the process” and over 17 years of experience in running, working with some of the best coaches in the world, I think I’ve learned a lot about that process. I would love to share my hard won knowledge with you!

SCOTT FAUBLE

2:08 Marathoner / 61:11 Half / 28:00 10k

I am Scott Fauble. I am a professional runner. I was a multiple time state champion in high school, a multiple time all-american in college, and as a professional I have run 28:00 for 10,000m, 1:01:11 in the half marathon, and 2:08:52 in the marathon.

My relationship with running has changed a lot since I started running in middle school. At first I did it because I was winning a lot and enjoyed the winning. Then I found the most joy in the camaraderie of running with friends, then I did it because I enjoyed being able to go outside and be in nature. Now, I still love it for all of those reasons, but I'm getting the most joy out of setting big goals and chasing them. I have started coaching in order to help other people chase their big goals too. Whether that's breaking 3 hours, qualifying for Boston, or setting a PR at your favorite distance, I want to be a part of your journey.

My guiding principles as a coach are: customizing training for each individual based on their circumstances, always prioritizing getting to the start line healthy and fresh, and making sure my athletes are enjoying their relationship with running.

If that's what you're looking for in a coach, let's work together!

Potential is within everyone. We’re here to help unlock yours.

What People Are Saying

Andrew is what we in the teaching field refer to as a ‘warm demander.’ He is going to push you to do your absolute best, but will scaffold that effort in a way that leaves you feeling safe, successful, and ready to try even harder next time around.

Coach Bumbalough treats athletes of all levels with the respect and genuine interest that one would expect to be only given to a pro. I haven’t had this much fun, or been so inspired running, since my long ago high school track days.

— SKY A.

Running with Andrew has been a game changer. Not only does he have the knowledge but he’s also a great coach. I’ve had really tough days throughout our training and he balances encouragement and challenge really well. I highly recommend him if you want to progress as a runner.
